Abstract
L’iconographie oasienne est riche et ancienne, mais son usage dans la recherche reste peu explicité. Revenant sur nos terrains de thèse, à Tozeur et Gabès en Tunisie, il s’agit ici d’interroger le rôle de la photo dans la construction de l’imaginaire territorial oasien, et de la recherche sur ces espaces. Matériel de terrain original, la photo dans les oasis constitue une ressource porteuse de discours divers sur le territoire, entre promotion d’un rêve touristique, documentation d’un paysage, ou support de sensibilisation à la dégradation environnementale du milieu. Nous reviendrons notamment sur la réappropriation de l’abondant corpus colonial au service d’une idéalisation des systèmes anciens, puis le processus de constitution d’un corpus « témoin » des dégradations environnementales dans un contexte de dynamisme associatif, et enfin la manière dont la recherche peut mobiliser ce matériel de terrain pour analyser et illustrer la diversité des formes de mise en valeur des territoires.
