Dans cet article, les auteurs proposent une analyse de la place qu’a occupée au tournant des années 1980 la littérature gaie dans la presse gaie française et québécoise (Gai Pied, Masques, Le Berdache), ainsi que dans le catalogue de la maison d’édition Persona. Après un portrait quantitatif du corpus, ils se penchent sur les sources proprement dites et montrent que la littérature renvoie à des préoccupations bien précises : revendication de l’homosexualité au sein de l’espace public, affirmation de modes de vie, construction d’une mémoire, d’un passé historique et littéraire gai, interrogation sur la question pédophile. Leur contribution se conclut par une réflexion sur la notion même de littérature gaie, fort problématique.
