Abstract
Este artigo apresenta resultados de pesquisa sobre a saúde em matérias jornalísticas veiculadas pelo Jornal Nacional da Rede Globo de Televisão durante o ano de 2012. Ao longo de 12 meses matérias sobre saúde foram levadas ao ar em metade de sua programação. As categorias temáticas Hospital, Ciência & Tecnologia, Mercado, Hábitos e Comportamento, Questões Epidemiológicas, Corporação Médica predominam na pauta do jornal. Discute-se a incorporação tecnológica na produção de saúde tendo o hospital como recurso assistencial e sua relação com o mercado de produtos e serviços de saúde. As representações do Sistema Único de Saúde são discutidas em matérias sobre o hospital público, a atenção básica, e em reportagens internacionais, quando comparado ao sistema público de saúde britânico, o National Health System - NHS.
