Abstract
Résumé L’étudiante franco-africaine Fatimata Warou, lors de sa recherche basée sur les Histoires de vie en Maîtrise, a accompagné le sociolinguiste Christian Leray à Salvador da Bahia où elle a rencontré, au Pelourinho, des Bahianaises vendeuses de rue. Ne parlant pas le Portugais, Fatimata n’a pas réussi à communiquer par la langue Haoussa avec ces femmes issues à l’origine d’esclaves africains car, à la différence de Fatimata, elles avaient toutes oublié le dialecte de leurs parents. Par contre, elle a réussi à dialoguer un peu avec le résistant culturel du Pelourinho Clarindo, Cet article montre l’importance de la langue dans la conscientisation de son identité culturelle par le truchement de son histoire de vie.
