Abstract

With the improvement in the speed of freight trains, the demand for intelligence and digitalization has become increasingly prominent. However, because the existing vehicles are not equipped with power supply devices, it is impossible to use monitoring and control equipment to provide freight monitoring and safety protection for freight trains. This paper presents a technical scheme of a generator installed at the axle end of the train, which is designed based on the principle of disc generator. It takes full account of the movement between the train axle and the bearing saddle and has the advantages of small volume, lightweight, and small temperature rise. Through the simulation analysis, the verification of the device design was completed. Furthermore, the prototype trial production and test platform construction of the device was completed. The test proves that when the train speed is 80 km/h, the device can stably output 30 W electric energy.
