Tyson, Obama e um novo Cosmos: uma breve análise sobre a representação do negro na ciência

Abstract
Este trabalho visa analisar a questão da representação da pessoa negra na produção audiovisual de divulgação científica Cosmos. Para isso, selecionamos como objeto as duas temporadas da série, exibidas, respectivamente, em 1980 e 2014 – cada uma com 13 episódios. Utilizamos como principal referencial teórico o livro Cultura e Representação, de Stuart Hall. Ao comparar as duas versões da série, tendo a obra de Hall como base norteadora, pretendemos avaliar se Cosmos pode ser considerada como um exemplo de ampliação da pluralidade e diversificação desta representação, rompendo com certos estereótipos relacionados ao aspecto de raça e etnia na produção audiovisual de divulgação cientifica. Apresentamos como proposta uma análise multimetodológica em consonância com uma revisão bibliográfica, assim como traçamos alguns paralelos entre o objeto de análise e outras produções audiovisuais que, de algum modo, também dialogam com a problemática do artigo, relacionando o negro e o contexto científico.
