Abstract
Les décors peints gothiques de l’architecture domestique de la ville de Cordes présentent un double intérêt, celui d’être étudiés pour leur seul objet, mais aussi celui d’ouvrir de nouvelles fenêtres sur l’intimité des patriciens, groupe social en plein essor dans le dernier tiers du XIIIe siècle. Si la majorité des peintures murales ont une valeur ornementale, à l’étude, elles se révèlent avoir surtout un rôle essentiel dans l’affirmation de la réussite sociale du propriétaire au sein de l’aula.
