Abstract
Cet article décrit les expériences de parents d’enfants sourds de Suisse romande autour de quatre thèmes : le diagnostic de surdité, l’implantation cochléaire, le suivi socio-éducatif de l’enfant et le mode de communication. Il croise les résultats de deux études menées auprès de parents d’enfants sourds de Suisse romande, réalisées respectivement en 2015 et 2020 et incluant des parents entendants et sourds. Les données ont été récoltées au moyen d’entretiens semi-directifs dans la première recherche et de focus-groupes dans la deuxième. Il ressort de l’analyse que les orientations des parents, qu’ils soient sourds ou entendants, influencent la qualité de leurs expériences, avec davantage de défis à relever lorsqu’ils prennent des options différentes de celles privilégiées par la majorité des services, ceux-ci s’inscrivant souvent dans une perspective de normalisation.
