Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

This chapter helps the students to understand the basic governing physics of droplet formation in binder jetting (BJ) and material jetting (MJ). It also helps the students to understand the basic governing physics of droplet–surface and droplet–powder bed interaction in material jetting and binder jetting processes, respectively. The impact of droplets on the substrate in MJ and the infiltration of the binder in the BJ powder bed process are described separately, along with their associated physics and available models. The chapter provides introductory-level description of scaling theories of pinch-off, droplet–substrate interaction, and binder imbibitions. Viscosity, density, and surface tension of the jetting material directly affect the droplet formation process. The chapter helps the students to learn about the numerical methods used to model MJ and BJ. Volume of fluid, and level-set methods are both Eulerian numerical methods that function through locating and tracking free surfaces.

Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. Learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and 10,348 direct Gemma labels. Candidate is the union of thresholded teacher heads; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels or direct frontier model labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
