Abstract
The accuracy of a recently proposed hybrid full-wave/ray-tracing method to model wave propagation in realistic reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS)-enabled communication channels, is examined via a measurement campaign in an indoor environment. The geometry under study is a hallway junction that includes a metasurface, to enable coverage within the shadow region of a hallway corner. The comparison between measurement and simulation results for the received signal strength in this geometry confirms the validity of the model and its value for the planning of RIS-based wireless communication systems.
