Le confinement strict décrété le 17 mars 2020 en France pour contenir l’épidémie de COVID-19 a engendré un nouveau problème pour les sans-abri : celui de l’insécurité alimentaire. Pour faire face à cette situation inédite d’urgence alimentaire, une multitude d’actions et de coopérations ont vu le jour. Dans ce contexte, nourrir les sans-abri nécessite une reconfiguration des espaces d’action, parfois préexistants. Prenant appui sur une recherche sociologique collective portant sur les ajustements de l’action publique visant les sans-abri pendant la crise sanitaire, dont l’aide alimentaire fait partie, cet article examine la manière dont l’alimentation des sans-abri est devenue un problème public lors de la crise sanitaire liée à la COVID-19 en France. Nous verrons en effet que les distributions d’aides alimentaires avec des colis, principale réponse à l’urgence alimentaire, rendent visibles des coopérations plurielles situées au croisement du militantisme, du caritatif, du travail social et des autorités publiques locales. Nous mettrons également en lumière le fait que ces distributions alimentaires aux personnes sans-abri là où elles ont été confinées font exister un droit à l’alimentation principalement axé sur la disponibilité et l’accessibilité des denrées alimentaires, délaissant en partie la notion de choix et le respect des goûts, des pratiques et sociabilités pourtant au coeur de l’alimentation, même des plus pauvres.
