Abstract
S’appuyant sur les statistiques de l’immigration et les données des recensements, cette étude met en lumière certaines caractéristiques de la diversité multiculturelle du Québec. Cette diversité s’accroît de façon substantielle dans la seconde moitié du XXe siècle. Sa composante principale reste encore de souche européenne, mais la composante extraeuropéenne prend une place croissante dans les trois dernières décennies du siècle. Il ressort en outre que la diversité multiculturelle du Québec est fort différente de celle du reste du Canada. Cette différence vient essentiellement de l’apport de l’immigration appartenant à la mouvance francophone. Finalement, l’étude souligne à quel point cette diversité est essentiellement montréalaise.
