A través del examen detallado de material clínico estamos invitados a considerar las continuidades y discontinuidades del self inherentes a la difícil situación del inmigrante.Encontrar un espacio transicional entre lo que se ha dejado atrás y la realidad actual del nuevo país propio se convierte en un ideal por el que luchar.Muy poco ha sido escrito sobre el trauma de la emigración y demasiados clínicos cierran las puertas ante las discontinuidades del self implicadas en este suceso.Trabajando desde el Modelo Relacional en torno al énfasis sobre la subjetividad del analista, intento demostrar cuan valioso movimiento para avanzar puede lograrse cuando nos focalizamos obre los estados cambiantes del self, la multiplicidad del self, y logramos, a través de poner el foco en la transferencia/contratransferencia, el reconocimiento mutuo y la intersubjetividad.
