Abstract
Cet article s’intéresse aux nombreuses adaptations en bandes dessinées de La divine comédie de Dante Alighieri parues en Italie et dans plusieurs pays (France, Pays-Bas, Allemagne, États-Unis, Japon) aux xx e et xxi e siècles. Ce phénomène majeur d’un univers médiatique en pleine expansion – le « Dante pop » – est interprété selon deux approches théoriques complémentaires. D’une part, les critères régissant le détournement parodique selon la pensée structuraliste (Genette, Kristeva, Hutcheon) permettent de saisir les enjeux culturels soulevés par les reprises bédéiques italiennes ; d’autre part, les réflexions menées autour des notions de transculturalité (De Toro) et de transmédialité (Rajewsky) mettent en valeur quelques tendances communes aux bandes dessinées inspirées de L’enfer de Dante et diffusées sur le marché éditorial français, telles que les processus d’actualisation des personnages, les trames narratives promues par l’industrie culturelle, l’évolution transnationale de la signification attribuée à l’adjectif « dantesque ».
