Les travaux sur la diaspora malgache sont rares, ceux sur ses rapports aux défunts d’autant plus. C’est l’objet de cet article qui, en s’appuyant sur dix entretiens, étudie les croyances et pratiques de cette diaspora relatives aux rapatriements de corps, au famadihana ou à l’incinération (qui se développe alors qu’elle est taboue), à l’heure de la COVID-19. Nous étudions principalement les Malgaches résidant à La Réunion ou dans sa métropole en incluant une évocation de la situation canadienne et suisse. En procédant par comparaison, nous voyons que leur situation entretient de nombreux points communs avec celle des populations subsahariennes en France.
