/ Ce livre rassemble des contributions internationales sur le thème de la rupture dans les géomatériaux sous l'angle de la micromécanique. L'approche se fait à la fois du point de vue scientifique et aussi à partir des outils et méthodes associés. Au fil des chapitres, les auteurs essaieront de faire ressortir les différentes formes de rupture qui peuvent être rencontrées dans les géomatériaux, en tentant de dégager les conséquences pratiques qui en découlent pour l'ingénieur. Le cas des milieux frottant, avec ou sans phase liquide, sera considéré, pour lequel les mécanismes de glissement et d'ouverture des contacts gouvernent en partie l'apparition de la rupture , l'effet de l'écrasement et de la souplesse des grains sera pris en compte. Enfin, la fissuration au sein des milieux cohérents dans lesquels les grains constituent des inclusions sera traitée dans le cadre de la théorie de l'endommagement.
