Abstract
Cet article examine l’expérience de Guatémaltèques dans des contextes de volontourisme en mobilisant la théorie de l’affect de l’échange social de Lawler. À la suite d’une recherche terrain menée en 2020 auprès de trois organisations, les résultats démontrent que les expériences guatémaltèques ont été généralement positives. Bien que les influences néolibérale et néocoloniale puissent structurer certains aspects des échanges sociaux en volontourisme, la dimension affective des expériences vécues a un impact sur la manière de percevoir l’égalité entre acteurs Nord-Sud. Analyser la dimension affective de l’expérience permet d’identifier d’autres répercussions du volontourisme qui vont au-delà de la dimension politico-économique.
