Abstract
L’inégale répartition du travail domestique gratuit entre les hommes et les femmes est un élément important dans l’explication des inégalités de genre, au niveau des carrières, des revenus et des prestations de sécurité sociale. Si ce travail exercé dans la sphère privée a traditionnellement été exclu du champ du droit social, divers mécanismes qui reconnaissent des tâches de soins ou d’éducation ont vu le jour au cours des dernières décennies. Parmi ceux-ci, le statut de l’aidant proche adopté en 2014 par le législateur fédéral belge offre une reconnaissance symbolique aux aidants. Ce statut a été complété en 2019 par la reconnaissance ouvrant des droits sociaux, prenant la forme d’un congé thématique. Cet article analyse l’effet de la reconnaissance juridique de l’aidant ainsi que des soins et de l’aide fournis en matière d’égalité de genre. Il évalue le statut d’aidant proche à la lumière de l’objectif de dégenrisation des parcours de vie, décliné à travers le double facteur du maintien du lien au marché du travail et de l’égale prise en charge des tâches de soins et d’éducation entre les hommes et les femmes.
