Abstract
This chapter details the changes in the author's backyard over the first four days of the week. On Monday, the snow started to melt in the bright sunshine; the snowdrops have made it through the winter. By Tuesday, the author was finally able to do her driveway run. High in the sky overhead there were skeins of geese, all flying from south to north. Some of the skeins were Canada geese, others were snow geese, and some were mixed. By midday Wednesday, the winter aconites and crocuses were emerging in the soggy snowmelt, and some of the snowdrops were in flower. Thursday was the best day of the week, when the author saw a woodchuck and the first honeybees of the season. However, the wind turned gustily to the north on Friday, and it snowed again.
