Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

Which COVID-19 pandemic safety measures do university students want their educational institutions to implement? Using two experimental studies embedded in a survey administered between July 28 and August 27, 2021 to 4,812 students in 78 countries who attend more than 1,000 post-secondary insti- tutions, we examine attitudes towards various prevalent COVID-19 mitigation policies implemented by universities. We find that requiring vaccinations for students and staff, providing hybrid-learning options, limiting class sizes, free COVID-19 testing, and mask mandates are favoured by students, whereas clos- ing student residences or policies which specifically affect international students are unpopular. Our research has implications for future pandemic-related uni- versity policymaking.

Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. The Gemma side is a direct model label for every work in the frame, read from the title-only record. The Codex side is a classifier learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and calibrated to design-weighted sample rates; fields without enough sample support carry no Codex call. Candidate is the union of the two sides; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
