Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

On behalf of the entire 5th IEEE International Flexible Electronics Technology Conference (IFETC) 2023 committee, it is my great pleasure to welcome you in San Jose, California, USA from August 13-16, 2023. IFETC is a recently launched conference sponsored by the IEEE Electron Devices Society (EDS) to provide a unique forum for discussions on broad range of flexible/printable electronics device/manufacturing-related topics including sensors, displays, and in general large area flexible electronics systems. Looking back, the IFETC finds its origins in the year 2016 during the 7th International Conference on Computer Aided Design for Thin-Film Transistor Technologies (CAD-TFT) 2016 in Beijing, China. Attending CAD-TFT, the 2016-2017 EDS President Samar Saha of Prospicient Devices, Silicon Valley, USA, discussed with Ta-Ya Chu of the National Research Council Canada, Canada and Jamal Deen of McMaster University, Canada on implementing new initiatives to revitalize the Society activities in the IEEE Region 7, Canada. Subsequently, in the late 2017, through the effort of Gaozhi (George) Xiao and Ta-Ya Chu of the National Research Council Canada, Canada, and Samar, the IFETC was established. The first IFETC was held during August 7–9, 2018 at the Delta Hotel City Centre in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada with George and Samar as the General Co-Chairs and Ta-Ya along with Ye Tao of Advance Electronics and Photonics, Canada as the Technical Program Co-Chairs. The event was well attended by the national and international scholars working on Flexible/Printable electronics Research & Development and manufacturing. Within a short span of time, IFETC has become a premier venue for presenting the latest breakthroughs in flexible/printable electronics device/manufacturing-related technical areas. In accordance with the founding scope, the IFETC 2023 will feature outstanding presentations of contributed and invited papers and contributed posters by researchers from industry and academia as well as students from around the world along with Plenary talks by prominent multidisciplinary experts. An outline of the technical program is available on the IFETC 2023 website, https://2023.ifetc.org/view-the-program. The proceedings will also be available online at IEEE Xplore. The conference kicks off on Sunday, August 13 with pre-conference tutorials in the morning and short courses in the afternoon aimed at students, practitioners, and individuals transitioning to broad technical area of flexible/printable electronics. The topics for three tutorials are: (1) “Printed and Flexible Electronics and Devices: An Overview;” (2) “Nanocarbon-Based Flexible and Stretchable Electronics;” and (3) “Flexible RFID-Tags for Smart Label Applications in Retail and Logistics.” The topics for three short courses are: (1) “Inkjet-Printing Technology: From a Droplet to Flexible Electronics and 3D Artificial Tissues;” (2) “Distributed Printed Electronics for Sustainable Environmental Practices;” and (3) “Flexible and Hybrid Electronics.” The tutorials and short courses are organized and presented by internationally recognized researchers and technologists from industry and academia. The topics and instructors have been carefully chosen to have broad appeal to IFETC 2023 participants, students as well as experts in the field. The main conference will open on Monday, August 14 morning with the Plenary Session presenting three featured talks: the first, “Soft, Wireless Skin-Interfaced Devices for Health Monitoring and Haptic Interactions,” by John Rogers of Querrey-Simpson Institute for Bioelectronics, Northwestern University, Evanston, IL, USA; the second, “Flexible Substrates for Fabrication of Electronic Devices,” by Jeffrey King of Corning West Technology Center, Palo Alto, CA, USA; and the third, “Plasma Jet Printing for Printed Electronics,” by Dennis Nordlund of Space Foundry, San Jose, CA, USA. On Tuesday, August 15 IFETC sessions begins with a Plenary talk, “Electronic Skins for Robotics and Healthcare Applications,” by Takao Someya of the University of Tokyo, Japan; and, on Wednesday, August 16 conference offers Plenary talk, “Skin-Inspired Sensors, Integrated Circuits and Bioelectronics,” by Zhenan Bao of Stanford University, CA, USA. In addition to the excellent contributed and invited paper sessions on diverse topical areas of flexible/printable electronics, on Monday, August 14 morning the EDS president will formally introduce the 75th Anniversary of the Transistor, commemorative book published by Wiley-IEEE Press in July, 2023 and the evening will feature the Women in Electron Devices Society and Young Professional session to delve the power and influence of women and young professionals into, “Diversity in the Next 75 Years of the Transistor: Off to a Good Start;” Tuesday, August 15 will feature a luncheon talk, “Marketing the Unknown,” by Sri Peruvemba of Marketer International, Inc., San Ramon, USA and an evening interactive panel session, “Why and How Investment Would Accelerate Growth in Flexible/Printable Electronics Industry?,” offering a forum for deep-dive discussions on the potential growth of flexible/printable electronics industry around the globe. Wednesday, August 16 will offer a workshop on CAD-TFT. The outstanding IFETC 2023 events are made possible by contributions of our authors, speakers, and committee members. Thus, on behalf of the Technical Program Chair, Muhammad Mustafa Hussain as well as the entire IFETC 2023 committee, I express my sincere appreciation to all of the authors and speakers who contributed to the technical program. Your efforts continue to shape IFETC on flexible/printable electronics device/manufacturing-related broad technical discipline. I, also thank each of the members of the IFETC 2023 steering, executive, and technical subcommittees whose selfless dedication and effort were critical in planning and organizing the IFETC 2023. Furthermore, my sincere thanks and gratitude to conference sponsors. IFETC is sponsored by the IEEE EDS. More detailed information regarding the IEEE EDS is available at http://www.ieee.org/eds. If you are not already a member of the IEEE and EDS, please consider joining this great institution that has played an important role globally over the past 75 years enabling digital ecosystem. Again, it is my great honor and pleasure to extend sincere welcome to everyone attending the 5th IEEE International Flexible Electronics Technology Conference 2023 from around the world in the Silicon Valley, California, USA.

Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. The Gemma side is a direct model label for every work in the frame, read from the title-only record. The Codex side is a classifier learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and calibrated to design-weighted sample rates; fields without enough sample support carry no Codex call. Candidate is the union of the two sides; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
