Abstract
I begin by acknowledging that my two workplaces, Concordia University and McGill University, are situated on unceded Indigenous lands.Tiohtià:ke/Montréal has long served as a site of meeting and exchange among the Haudenosaunee and Anishinaabeg and other peoples.My research has involved learning from Indigenous peoples of many different lands, and I am acutely conscious of the need to engage with Indigenous histories and perspectives in the contemporary world.My intellectual debts to fellow scholars are many.First
