Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

On May 31, 2022, the Canadian federal government announced that residents 18 years and older in British Columbia will be able to possess small amounts of illicit drugs without legal penalty. The Controlled Drugs and Substances act prohibits illicit drug possession for Canadians, but beginning on January 31, 2023, residents will be allowed to possess 2.5g of illicit drugs including cocaine, methamphetamine, opioids, etc., despite this policy.B.C has experienced a heightened statistic of overdoses from illicit drugs due to unsafe drug using practices and contaminated drug supply, observing 10,000 deaths since 2016.This policy plans to remain in place for three years as a pilot to advocate for regular drug users, creating space for individuals to practice safe drug use in private establishments. It is important to note this policy does not decriminalize the sale of illicit drugs.Decriminalization will also minimize the stigma associated with drug addiction, providing safety for the drug-using population in treating the issue from a health perspective rather than a criminal perspective.1,2 Decriminalization of Decriminalization of Illicit Drugs Procession Illicit Drugs Procession in British Columbia in British Columbia

Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. The Gemma side is a direct model label for every work in the frame, read from the title-only record. The Codex side is a classifier learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and calibrated to design-weighted sample rates; fields without enough sample support carry no Codex call. Candidate is the union of the two sides; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
