El turismo representa una actividad de gran importancia para la economía española y muy especialmente para la provincia de Málaga. En la misma, consciente de su dependencia económica de este sector, se llevan a cabo acciones encaminadas tanto a incrementar el número de sus visitantes como a retenerlos el mayor tiempo posible y además a procurar que repitan la experiencia. Hemos querido centrar el presente trabajo, pretendiendo averiguar las características del turista (sexo, país de origen, nivel de formación, motivaciones, medio de transporte...) y darle el protagonismo que le corresponde no sólo en función del objetivo que prioritariamente le motiva y que en la mayoría de los casos le impulsa al desplazamiento, sino también por el volumen tan considerable que representa y el beneficio que por este concepto se produce.
