Le monde politique, comme le reste de la scène publique donne aujourd’hui accès à de nombreux textes disponibles pour les chercheurs. Si ces matériaux langagiers sont facilement accessibles aux chercheurs, leur traitement et leur sélection demandent des protocoles spécifiques. Nous présenterons un exemple d’exploration lexicométrique, celui des discours de la chambre des communes du Canada contenant le mot inondation (n=3 550). Les classifications Reinert permettront de naviguer dans les thématiques abordées par le corpus et les analyses de similitudes et de spécificités nous permettront d’étudier la structure du discours ou la répartition temporelle de temps verbaux.
