Féminisation d’un discours public sur la langue à Moncton entre 1947 et 1965 : les traces archivistiques d’une honte linguistique

Abstract
Dans ce texte, je m’intéresserai à l’existence de traces archivistiques attestant de la féminisation d’un discours public sur la langue dans la région de Moncton dans la période précédant l’adoption du bilinguisme officiel par la province du Nouveau-Brunswick. En mobilisant un petit corpus d’archives de presse datant de 1947 à 1965, je propose une réflexion sur la mise en discours par les femmes d’une honte linguistique. En effet, Annette Boudreau (2021) développe amplement la notion de « honte sociale » dans son plus récent ouvrage qui s’intitule Dire le silence : insécurité linguistique en Acadie 1867-1970. Elle conçoit la honte comme participant à l’insécurité linguistique et identitaire d’un groupe, source de silence collectif (apprendre à se taire). Pour ma part, je m’appuierai sur Boudreau afin de mener une réflexion théorique sur la honte à partir de paroles de femmes. L’objectif sera d’examiner comment les archives de femmes permettent de penser la honte linguistique au-delà du silence pour s’intéresser au discours d’émancipation linguistique.
