Abstract
Colorectal cancer (CRC) is the 3rd most diagnosed cancer in Canada, and 2nd deadliest. Liver metastasis is the primary cause of CRC mortality, with obesity exacerbating CRC-related deaths by ∼30-40%. We have previously demonstrated that obesity-induced monocytes suppress cancer immune surveillance, fueling CRC liver metastasis. However, the mechanisms governing monocyte phenotypic changes in obesity and their influence on CRCLM remain elusive. Here, we explore monocyte mechanisms in CRCLM, comparing lean and obese hosts, to reveal disease progression implications.
