Em 2019 iniciou-se a construção do Dossiê Temático "Saúde Mental e Adoecimento nas Instituições de Ensino Superior” publicado em dois volumes da Revista Trabalho (En)Cena congregando 20 artigos no total. À partir da experiência com o dossiê, este artigo apresenta algumas reflexões quanto a pesquisa e intervenção em saúde mental no contexto universitário. Em relação à pesquisa, as reflexões seguem na direção da adoção de estratégias que articulem métodos diferentes de pesquisa, na condução de estudos longitudinais, na ampliação dos atores da comunidade acadêmica estudados e da necessidade de consideração nos estudos de variáveis micro e macroeconômicas, de gênero e de raça. No campo da intervenção, pontos como a construção de espaços de fala e participação da comunidade acadêmica, investimento em programas continuados de prevenção e mudanças estruturais reais, são apontados como centrais na construção de um ambiente universitário que realmente propicie o desenvolvimento humano saudável.
