Abstract
The article studies the impact of migration processes on the ethno-demographic and confessional situation of the population in the last quarter of the 19th century in Yelizavetpol governorate, which was created in the historical territory of Azerbaijan when it was a colony of the Russian Empire. Qualitative and quantitative changes in the ethnic composition of the population are monitored based on the analysis of a wide range of sources. In the context of the resettlement policy of the Russian Empire, the settlement of Germans, Armenians, and Russians in the territory of the governorate is highlighted. The changes caused by the migration, especially the religious minorities transferred from the central provinces of Russia are analyzed.
