Plastic bronchitis (PB) is a rare disease characterized by the expectoration of amorphous, rubbery, cohesive, and branched bronchial casts that obstruct the airway [1]. Bronchial casts are of two types: Type 1 (inflammatory), and Type 2 (acellular). [2] Most pediatric PB cases occur after correction of congenital heart lesions, and present with acellular casts [3]. PB has also been reported in pediatric patients with viral infections presenting with inflammatory casts [3]. To our knowledge there are no reported pediatric cases associated with COVID-19 infections. Our Case Report describes a child with Fontan palliation who developed inflammatory PB post COVID-19 infection.
