Abstract
The major reforms that took place in Québec society during the Quiet Revolution of the 1960s led to fundamental changes in the functioning of the French language, especially in the fields of education, production, administration and others. In order to protect the status of the French language and the language rights of residents of the province, the Québec government has adopted a number of language laws, the most important of which is the Charter of the French Language (1977). Law 96 of 2022 on the French language in Québec makes important changes to the provisions of the Charter relating to the province's language policy. The article presents an analysis of the main provisions of Law 96 and gives an overview of the social areas of Québec on which the new Language law will have the greatest impact.
