A relação privilegiada que ao longo de toda sua obra Canguilhem manteve com a filosofia de Nietzsche é um fato conhecido e comprovado tanto pelos estudiosos de sua obra quanto por seus leitores. Curiosamente, entretanto, as poucas menções explícitas a Nietzsche não estão jamais à altura do legado; sem dúvida porque a filiação parece tão evidente a Canguilhem que lhe parece inútil reforçar, ao passo que as reservas são suficientemente raras para que mereçam ser mencionadas.
