Abstract
Salah satu permasalahan sistem transportasi yang masih dihadapi oleh Kabupaten Lampung Tengah, antara lain kondisi geometrik persimpangan jalan yang belum memenuhi spesifikasi teknis persimpangan, sehingga terjadi tundaan lalu lintas yang dapat mengakibatkan kemacetan. Salah satunya adalah di Kawasan CBD Bandar Jaya. Bandar Jaya merupakan sebuah wilayah dengan karakteristik menyerupai sebuah daerah/Kota kecil, Bandar Jaya merupakan ibukota Kecamatan Terbanggi Besar, Kabupaten Lampung Tengah, Propinsi Lampung, Indonesia. Kota Bandar Jaya posisinya strategis dan menjadi daerah transit paling ramai yang dilintasi oleh pengguna jalan baik yang masuk maupun keluar pulau Sumatera, selain itu Bandar Jaya juga menjadi pusat kegiatan Niaga terbesar di Kabupaten Lampung Tengah. Di Bandar Jaya terdapat dua pusat perbelanjaan, yaitu Plaza Bandar Jaya dan Chandra Superstore Bandar Jaya. Di sini juga terdapat masjid termegah di Kota Bandar Jaya, yaitu Masjid Agung Istiqlal Bandar Jaya. Masjid ini menjadi pusat peribadatan di Bandar Jaya sekaligus sebagai tempat singgah para musafir. Sehingga cukup Pantas bila Bandar Jaya disebut sebagai Daerah Pusat Kegiatan Niaga di Kabupaten Lampung Tengah / Central Bussines Distric. Wilayah Kajian Geometrik Persimpangan Jalan ini adalah di Bandar Jaya tepatnya pada simpang empat Polsek Terbanggi Besar. Simpang ini merupakan Ruas Jalan Negara yang juga menghubungkan akses jalan menuju Bandar Jaya Barat dan Bandar Jaya Timur. Kondisi Simpang saat ini dipisahkan dengan median jalan berupa Road Barier sehingga fungsi Simpang empat kurang optimal terlebih belum diatur dengan Alat Pemberi Isyarat Lalu Lintas (APILL) ataupun Lampu Lalu Lintas (Traffic Light).
