Abstract
On compte aujourd’hui onze nations autochtones sur le territoire québécois, et elles sont toutes, à des degrés divers, en processus de réappropriation de leur identité. Dans cet article, nous présentons l’évolution des ethnonymes de quelques nations en fonction de trois stades d’intégration : l’adoption du nom choisi par chaque nation, l’adoption de la graphie de chacune des langues autochtones et le respect de chacune des grammaires de ces langues. Nous analysons comment toutes ses possibilités cohabitent en français dans l’espace québécois en présentant la position de quelques-uns des acteurs qui orientent la norme au Québec (OQLF, dictionnaires, médias, etc.). Pour terminer, nous présentons la description de quelques cas en fonction des critères du Projet porc-épic, qui propose un nouveau traitement lexicographique pour les emplois polémiques.
