Abstract
Polyimide foams are effective thermal insulation materials used in various industries such as aerospace, aeronautical materials, automotive materials, and defense materials. The excellent mechanical properties, thermo-oxidative stability, and chemical resistance make them ideal candidates for multifunctional applications. In this book chapter, the polyimide synthesizing, the foams’ fabrication methods, and their advantages and disadvantages are summarized. The thermal, mechanical, electrical, and electromagnetic properties are discussed, and the potential applications associated with these properties are presented.
