Abstract
This chapter discusses identity struggles of Chinese Canadian youth at school. Particularly, it attempts to address the question: what are the barriers and challenges in negotiating a Chinese identity? It explores three inter-related influencing factors about their identity construction, including school/programme choices, peer relations, school knowledge construction, and teachers. Specifically, it highlights how racism affects their identification by discussing different forms of racialized habitus demonstrated by white students and teachers, as well as Chinese youth themselves.
