En "Por eso uno sabe hoy, pero no sabe mañana", Gabriel Ruiz invoca la presencia fantasmal de la violencia en el pueblo donde creció y examina la forma en que esta modela la vida y la muerte de sus habitantes.La violencia armada no solo tiene un carácter espectacular, sino también espectral, es decir, se mueve más allá de los indicadores sociales que dan cuenta de sus múltiples efectos y se entromete en lo cotidiano con tal fuerza que logra mimetizarse sutilmente con lo ordinario.Y es allí, como muestra Ruiz, donde la violencia adquiere ese carácter espectral -fantasmal dice él-que tanto perturba.Pienso el término espectro en sus dos acepciones: como radio de acción, pero también como aparición.Por lo tanto, la espectralidad evocada en el artículo forma parte de un esfuerzo por convertir el lugar que habitamos, junto con el lugar desde donde nos enunciamos, en sitios desde los cuales examinar nuestra relación con los muertos, cuestionar las identidades esquivas de los vivos y explorar los límites entre posiciones éticas y epistemológicas enfrentadas.Luego de que Karl Marx y Friedrich Engels lanzaran en 1848 aquella lapidaria declaración sobre el fantasma que recorría Europa, y de que Jacques Derrida (1993) retomara dicho fantasma como metáfora conceptual para desestabilizar las fronteras entre el pasado y el presente, la presencia y la ausencia, o la vida y la muerte, los espectros parecen ganar cada vez más espacio en los estudios sociales.Y aunque los fantasmas pueden ser un tipo de experiencia universal, no existe algo así como un fantasma universal: siempre son figuras sociales vinculadas a las especificidades de un lugar o de una cultura (Spooner-Lockyer y Kilroy-Marac 2021).Los fantasmas, al igual que la violencia armada, apuntan a un
