Abstract
Quels sont les aspects philosophiques et juridiques de la laïcité au Québec ? Quelle a été la réception de la Loi sur la laïcité de l’État (loi 21) au Québec et dans le reste du Canada après son adoption en 2019 ? Comment enseigner la laïcité dans les écoles du Québec ? Que reste-t-il à faire pour établir la laïcité au Québec ? Les contributeurs et contributrices de cet ouvrage, tiré des actes d’un colloque organisé le 7 octobre 2022 par le Mouvement laïque québécois, répondent à ces questions et font voir plus clairement le type de libéralisme invoqué par les opposants à la loi et l’incompréhension culturelle et politique du Canada anglais à l’égard de la laïcité québécoise. Ils démontrent de plus que les générations montantes et les femmes voient différemment la laïcité et, surtout, qu’il faudra donner suite à la conciliation des notions d’interculturalisme et de convergences culturelles et tirer au clair le statut laïque des écoles privées religieuses subventionnées par l’État.
