La scolarisation et la formation professionnelle comme voies d’intégration des grands adolescents immigrants

Abstract
Si l’école se veut un lieu d’intégration par excellence pour les adolescents nouvellement arrivés en France, cet article interroge la place de la scolarité dans la trajectoire de jeunes migrants de première génération, les dits « mineurs étrangers isolés », dont le droit au séjour est corrélé à l’intégration et à la réussite scolaire. Après avoir examiné la question de l’accès de ces primo-arrivants au système scolaire français, est analysé le contexte dans lequel s’ancre la scolarité des mineurs isolés, un contexte de précarité sociale mais également un contexte politique, lié à la gestion de l’immigration « subie ». Première enquête à s’arrêter sur le devenir de ces jeunes immigrants, cet article s’appuie sur un suivi de cohorte, sur une période d’environ quatre ans, et sur une série d’entretiens auprès d’anciens mineurs isolés pour déterminer la nature des parcours scolaires de ces jeunes, entre réussites et ruptures multiples.
