Danas, uspješne kompanije globalno koriste strategiju rasta horizontalnom integracijom, kao instrument za postizanje konkurentske prednosti, dok se kod nas u praksi veoma malo izučava uticaj primjene korporativnih strategija na bitne elemenate poslovanja i pokazatelje uspješnosti istih. Predmet istraživanja u ovom radu jeste sagledavanje uloge i značaja definisanja strateškog opredjeljenja kompanije, analiza savremene prakse i vrste korporativnih strategija, kao i neophodnih koraka koje kompanija treba da definiše u procesu formulisanja i implementacije strategije za ostvarivanje njenih ciljeva i misije. Cilj istraživanja je pronaći osnovne pretpostavke za uspješnu primjenu strategije rasta spajanjem i akvizicijom, kao i parametre za njenu kvalitativnu i kvantitativnu mjeru uspješnosti. Takođe, cilj je istražiti da li su kompanije koje djeluju na konkurentnom telekomunikacionom tržištu BiH koristile strategiju rasta spajanjem i akvizicijom, te istražiti ključne pretpostavke za uspješno provođenje navedene strategije. Izbor telekomunikacionog tržišta proizilazi iz činjenice da je isto inovativno i ima pretpostavku višeg stepena korištenja metoda za postizanje konkurentne prednosti, u odnosu na druga tržišta u BiH.
