Abstract
Le carcinome basocellulaire (CBC) est un cancer de la peau non mélanique très prévalent qui fait preuve d’une évolution potentiellement mortelle lorsqu’on ne le traite pas. Comme le nombre de cas augmente chaque année à la suite d’une exposition aux rayons ultraviolets, les cliniciens responsables des soins oculovisuels peuvent s’attendre à voir de nombreux cas de CBC au cours de leur carrière professionnelle. Comme on considère que les paupières et les annexes périoculaires courent un risque élevé à cause de l’exposition au soleil, les optométristes sont bien en mesure de reconnaître et d’orienter leurs patients vers un traitement avant que le cancer n’évolue en une lésion importante sur le plan cosmétique ou potentiellement mortelle. Le présent rapport expose trois cas suspects de CBC étant apparus à divers endroits sur le visage ainsi qu’une revue des aspects cliniques et des options de traitement appropriées.
