As neoplasias pulmonares em cães e gatos podem ser de origem primária ou metastática. A média de idade dos animais afetados é de 10 anos, sendo reportada uma maior incidência nas raças Labrador Retriever, Springer Spaniel Inglês, Boxer, Doberman Pinscher, Pastor Australiano, Setter Irlandês e Bernese Mountain Dog. Adenocarcinoma é o tipo histológico mais comum observado nos cães e gatos, o carcinoma de células escamosas e carcinomas anaplásicos são menos comuns. Tosse crônica não responsiva a antibióticos é o mais frequentemente observado, Intolerância ao exercício, taquipneia, dispneia e claudicação podem ocorrer. O diagnóstico é baseado na apresentação clínica, histórico, achados no exame físico e exames de imagem como a radiografia e tomografia computadorizada de tórax. O tratamento é realizado pela ressecção cirúrgica do lobo afetado, e pode ser associada a quimioterapia com profissional especializado. O prognóstico é reservado, pois depende de diversos fatores para do tempo de sobrevida do paciente.
