Abstract
Abstract Cushing took a rare holiday in early August 1914, a few days salmon fishing in Canada with a group that included one of his house men, Elliott Cutler. While they were gone a war broke out in Europe: Germany and Austria-Hungary against Russia, France, and the British Empire. Harvey later joked about how the world fell apart when he went on vacation.
