Abstract
Abstract It is clear from the previous chapter that many brain regions are involved in schizophrenia. This chapter and Chapter 12 will examine some of the early attempts to put the clues together into a coherent whole, just as Harvey did when he realized that with venous valves, blood flowed not away from but back to the liver, thus raising the possibility of a circulatory system. Models that involve disconnection and coordination of information processing will be considered in this chapter, and the next chapter will examine models that depend on basal ganglia-thalamocortical circuits.
