Abstract
Abstract Like proponents of other strategies, most American isolationists favor U.S. hegemony in North America. However, for isolationists U.S. hegemony in the North American quarter-sphere is the beginning and end of American strategy, not the basis of a policy of U.S. intervention in power politics beyond North America. An isolationist America would foreswear the use of force and diplomacy to influence geopolitical outcomes in other parts of the world.
