Abstract
Abstract Chinese capitalism is playing an important albeit overlooked role in the economic development of numerous Pacific Rim cities and nations. Section I of this chapter examines the nature of ·Chinese capitalism’, relevant features of Hong Kong-based Chinese business systems (including the importance of property to Chinese firms), and the significance of Hong Kong as the ‘node’ through which Chinese firms hook into the capital and knowledge base of the contemporary global economy.
