Abstract
Las casas vecinales (settlement houses) están constituidas como una organización que atiende los problemas que conlleva la inmigración. En la actualidad, la ciudad de Vancouver (Canadá) dispone de aproximadamente catorce casas vecinales que unen sus líneas de trabajo en la atención de 40.000 inmigrantes que cada año deciden vivir, trabajar y educar a sus hijos en la provincia de la “British Columbia” a la que pertenece la ciudad de Vancouver. En este artículo se presenta la continuidad de estos centros que introducen un modelo alternativo de atención, una especie de misión urbana en la línea y filosofía del primer settlement.
