Abstract
Neuroendocrine and autonomic responses to stress are critical for survival. Stress imprints the brain to promote adaptations to future stressors and may contribute to maladaptive responses implicated in neuropsychiatric diseases. Multiple plasticity mechanisms have been described, but little is known about how these processes might be reversed. In humans, exercise is used to buffer stress. Here we tested the effects of exercise on synaptic metaplasticity induced by acute stress in corticotropin release hormone cells in the paraventricular nucleus of the hypothalamus (CRHPVN).
