Abstract
Dans les années 2000, dans un contexte de pauvreté endémique, des acteurs de la société civile burkinabè se mobilisent autour du concept d’économie sociale et solidaire (ESS) dans lequel ils inscrivent leurs pratiques visant à lutter contre la pauvreté. Dans cet article, à partir des données d’une enquête qualitative réalisée auprès d’organisations de l’ESS, nous cherchons à comprendre de quelles manières leurs activités agissent contre la pauvreté : s’agit-il uniquement de résoudre les conséquences individuelles de la pauvreté ou d’enclencher une dynamique collective de transformation sociale ? Si ces organisations tendent à favoriser un empowerment économique des individus, la portée de transformation sociale de leurs pratiques reste très contrastée en raison de divers paramètres relevant de l’empowerment organisationnel (type d’organisation, gouvernance, type d’activités, ressources, etc.).
