Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

In this chapter, we analyze the issue of climate change in North America, with a focus on the United States and Canada. Our analysis revealed that high levels of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, particularly from the United States, have already worsened the climate in North America. Without strong climate policies, climate trends toward 2050 are likely to deteriorate further in the coming decades. Many extreme climate events, such as droughts, floods, and storms, are expected by 2050, potentially resulting in billions of dollars in damage to both countries’ economies. Our analysis also emphasized that both countries have great potential to achieve net-zero GHG emissions by 2050 through various pathways, including electricity decarbonization, switching to clean fuels, reducing noncarbon dioxide (CO 2 ) emissions, improving energy efficiency, and promoting renewable energy sources. Individuals with appropriate skills will play a critical role in ensuring a smooth transition toward a low-carbon future by 2050.

Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. Learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and 10,348 direct Gemma labels. Candidate is the union of thresholded teacher heads; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels or direct frontier model labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
